RESEARCH

With the prevalent use of various information and communication technologies (ICTs), people often engage in communication and coordination through multiple communication modalities. To address these growing patterns of mixed-mode relationships and organizing, my research investigates how individuals, groups, and organizations use multiple media modalities to communicate and coordinate in the face of disasters, and how relationships evolve or emerge through these processes. In particular, my research connects these practices to the themes of sustainability and resilience. Overall, my work represents a systematic social network perspective to understand the social implications of online and mobile applications.
